International Somaliland Awareness Day ChecklistWe the members of the ISAD Committee would like to thank all who have been eagerly asking us what they can do to help their country on International Somaliland Awareness Day (June 26th). As a committee we had envisioned an event that was open to participant creativity and individual efforts, however, due to the many requests we received we have decided to create a checklist that can be used as a guideline by our fellow patriots.
The following is a checklist of things you can do on International Somaliland Awareness Day. There are three separate options depending on the depth of your patriotism. We acknowledge in advance that not everyone can reach the Somaliland Mujahid level due to their schedule, but we ask that you try your best to reach that status or at least be a ‘Die-Hard Somalilander’.
1) Part-Time Somalilander
On Facebook Tag your friends on the International Somaliland Awareness Day Facebook profile pic.
Ask all your friends to join ‘like’ the International Somaliland Awareness Day page
Change your Facebook name to ‘Recognise Somaliland’ if that’s not possible there’s an option which shows next to your name (Real Name) change that to RECOGNIZE SOMALILAND.
Change your Facebook profile picture to the ISAD Page’s picture.
Update your status to RECOGNIZE SOMALILAND and add a Wikipedia link for Somaliland (in any language) to your status.
Post the words (RECOGNIZE SOMALILAND) randomly as comments to pages you like.
Post the words (RECOGNIZE SOMALILAND) on the walls of you non-Somalilander friends.
On Twitter post “Recognize #Somaliland #Jun26” throughout the day.
Add ‘#Jun26’ to your tweets on the day so that we can trend our hashtag.
Retweet tweets from @Jun26ISAD & @isad26june as they are posted throughout the day.
Mention the following “most followed” twitter accounts in your tweets about Somaliland (@ladygaga) (@justinbieber) (@BarackObama) (@britneyspears) (@KimKardashian) (@katyperry) (@aplusk) (@TheEllenShow) (@taylorswift13) (@shakira)
On MSN and Yahoo Messenger: Change your nicknames to RECOGNIZE SOMALILAND and add the Wiki page for Somaliland.
Send or fax a copy of the ISAD letter to the AU headquarters.
Send or fax a copy of the ISAD letter to the Arab League Headquarters.
Send or fax a copy of the ISAD letter to your local representative. (can you make this clearer by mention an example cause people been asking they have no idea)
Send or fax a copy of the ISAD letter to the editor of your local newspaper or write your own letter asking why Somaliland is yet to be recognized and encouraging them to do a story on Somaliland.
Send or fax a copy of the ISAD letter to your local news agencies.
Call in to your local radio station and tell them why Somaliland should be recognized.
On YouTube. Troll YouTube and post “Recognise Somaliland” on at least 15 videos.
We need these two videos to trend so: Watch, LIKE and Tweet + Share the Link on Facebook. http://youtu.be/oYMTtCzscio (Arabic)
http://youtu.be/eZE_oe1FSFc (English)
Email a copy of our letter to the AU/Arab League to everyone on your friends list and ask them to forward it because it’s International Somaliland Awareness Day.
On Google Search for the word (Somaliland) repeatedly so it lands on Google Hot Searches and Trends.
Write a brief introduction to Somaliland on a message board that you are a member of.
Tell two of your neighbours about Somaliland when you run into them.
Use your imagination and do something bold and creative to spread the word about Somaliland.
2) Die-Hard Somalilander (The previous +)
Wear a shirt with Somaliland on it regardless of where you have to go on that day.
Get Somaliland face paint done before you go out.
Write your own pamphlet on Somaliland and hand it out to your entire neighborhood’s letterboxes.
Use your imagination and do something bold and creative to spread the word about Somaliland.
3) Somaliland Mujaahid (The previous 2+)
Stand at a busy intersection for 2 hours holding a home-made ‘Recognise Somaliland’ sign.
Get people to sign petitions which you can later deliver to your local representatives’ office.
Organise Somaliland Bake Sales, Fashion shows or even free carwashes.
Organise something with social groups in Uni/College Campuses
Canvass your entire neighborhood telling them about Somaliland.
You can approach your local politicians in person if it’s possible.
Order a bunch of Somaliland Stickers and place them EVERYWHERE
Provide free stickers to travel agents informing them on Somaliland
Go to large congregation zones and hand out a pamphlet on Somaliland
Use your imagination and do something bold and creative to spread the word about Somaliland.
Whatever it is you are going to do make sure you ask your friends to join!
As the ISAD Committee we want to encourage creativity and ask you to not limit yourselves to this list, but to go above and beyond where possible. Whatever you do International Somaliland Awareness Day please have fun and be sure to take pictures and post them to our event page and share your experience with us. We thank all participants in advance and look forward to seeing the various activities held globally and would like to end with our favorite phrase; Somaliland Haa Noolatoo!!!

Somali Unity is better.
Somali unity is better for those who weren't victims of a genocide…
I like it when haters put on dirac. Taking the monika of a woman does not make Zoomalia look better :)
Warya Zoomalia is also your country in the eyes of the world.
#Trollpatrol
Are we still speaking in the same language? What a nutter..!
Her comes, xin iyo xaasid!
Brothers this world has given somali’s recognition a deaf ear. I we wonder how long are we keeping to squeaze rock to get water out of it, it is real madness!!
We better use the resource we waste for recognition to build our region through the development its tourism, natural resource Livestock pottentialities. Let us call people to invest in Somaliland, let us call UN and international community to relocate to Hargeisa, let us broker peace and get benifit for our selves.
thanks bro,, i agree with you 100%
You would sell out Somaliland for money and power or alleged that you think would be gained. Are you claiming moving capitals makes problems that Somalia has disappear??? Suddenly Somali people left behind would rejoice in you're move to Somaliland…. yeah right. This is the most naive, delusional, distructive, impractical and suicidal idea ever.
Somalia's Independence Day is not 26 June, M*r*n and who is trying to celeberate is actually mistaken for July first.
Would someone explain to me why the rest of the tribes (more accurate term is clans) in S.land proper ( more accurate term is Northern Somalia) not bending over backwards in defense of S.land? Hence, the ambivalence of others toward your nationhood. I do not know whether a Gadhabursi, Warsangeli, Issa, Dhulbahante posted a positive message about S.Land. I have been coming to this site for 3 weeks now. Where is the allegiance to the Hargeisa controlled government?.
I would especially like to here from the self-serving sujui aka Kayse and know-it-all Waryaa.
Look now you are just being shallow and desperate. You are trying to gauge the level of support Somaliland enjoys being counting the number of people blogging on this site. How foolish is that?
1. The majority of the people in Somalia, regardless of region, do not understand English well. They communicate in our native tongue.
2. Not everyone has a PC at home and a ready internet connection (poverty is widespread).
3. The literacy rate isn't that high to start with
4. In order for this site to be a more accurate measuring tool all above factors must be addressed not mention SL press must be the only newspaper people read; which is impossible.
5. We as a Somali people haven't reach the level of development where we know what an opinion poll is. We still need foreign observers to help us conduct a fair vote (NEC).
Dear sister, I read newspapers in both English and Somali coming out of Borama, Hargeisa, Burco, Ceerigabo, Las Anod, Las Quroya, Garowe, and the south. Furthermore, I try to educate myself on our country, why it went down the tubes and the factors behind it. I do this by reading books, commentaries, watching discussions and debates etc. This doesn't mean i am a know-it all nor a tribalist. It's called effort!
It is obvious that you don't know anything and that you prefer to insult others to conceal this fact. So to you I say go to PALTALK where you will find others like yourself. You have my blessings to go nuts on each other.
Quote of the week by "Mohamed"
"I like it when haters put on dirac. Taking the monika of a woman does not make Zoomalia look better :)" LOL
Part One.
I'll keep it civil and take the high road by not insulting anyone. I merely asked a question or two and you lobbed few insults my way, yet you abhor others insulting you. Talk about the kettle calling the pot black!
It goes without saying that Somalis have difficult time in their day to day living. I certainly do not need anyone to remind me of that much less you of all people. That said, I am not asking for a scientific poll to measure the mood of Somalis within and without Somalia. The Somali diaspora around the globe has access to computers and the internet, especially the youth. One would imagine there would be divesity of opinions with respect to Somalia and its geopolitics. Sadly there is a dearth of diverse opinion on this site due to heavy censorship and other cynical moves.
Part Two.
I have read posts where your types have called others every name under the sun. God forbid if the name -calling is reciprocated. So, spare me the holier-than-thou rubbish. You are entitled to your opinion however skewed and misrepresented it is, but you are not entitled to the FACTS.
The fact is outside of your area, the blue and white star flag of Somalia is the norm in the region.
The fact is no ONE clan can dictate to others and monopolize power. History is littered with disintegration of a power based solely on one group's method of governance. I need not go any farther than the old regime in Moqadishu which monopolized power at the expense of thers.
The fact is unless and until there is genuine sharing of power amongst the populace that permeates through institutions and social fabric of society, all else is a farce and so goes S.land.
PS: Calling others names is childish and just proves your inability to debate and or lack of command of the language.
Look lady I don't what your issue is with me, but you are the one who called me out remember "I would especially like to here from the self-serving sujui aka Kayse and know-it-all Waryaa."
Then you say "certainly do not need anyone to remind me of that much less YOU of all people." I don't know what the hell that's supposed to mean lool
1. You say Dhulbhante genocide and i say LIE. Skirmishes yes, but not GENOCIDE come on!
2. You claim Dhulbhante are ALL against Somaliland and this is not true. LIES again, since the Dhulbhante are divided on the subject.
3. Today, your argument is Somaliland doesn't enjoy much support from non-Isaaq tribes based on the number of blogs on this site. I say your argument makes no sense and i provide the reasons. Then I conclude by saying you do not know what you are talking about. This does not mean you are a bad person nor this or that. It just means you are not well informed about the subject matter you wish to discuss. This is problematic, because many people like to pass off hearsay and gossip as FACT! If a fight takes place and few people die this does not make it genocide. The people who say genocide want to establish a rallying cry to promote their own political agenda; which is taking up arms against Somaliland.
Finally, we both know that our misunderstanding has nothing to do with Somalia, Somaliland or this site for that matter. You hate the Issaq tribe, their history (SNM) and accomplishments. Furthermore, you just want come on Somalilandpress and upload everything on your chest. And when people refute your claims…well that bugs you ("…self-serving sujui aka Kayse and know-it-all Waryaa.")
So you say what you have to say, but please spare me the "blue and white flag" nonsense. If you were a nationalist then i could respect that, but in reality your language smells of Barre's stench. It's funny, but people like you are what motivate Somalilander's to fight more fiercely for their independence.
As if calling me Sister or Lady would somehow diminish my manhood. What a pathetic attempt on your part. You could not be farther from the truth and in all honesty I could care less about your labels. I could go the raunchy way and say your Isaaq girls would beg to differ with your assessment of my manhood but I won't.
In the short time I have commented in this place, I have not used the word genocide in explaining the civil war in Somalia back in the 80s and 90s. I have used the word atrocities committed by the SNM. And indeed the SNM's atrocities in Northern Somalia is well documented and your terrorist leader now runs a pseudo government based in Northern Somalia.
Additionally, I have been just as critical of Barre and his regime in my posts and in the name of equal opportunity for all, I have condemned how Djibouti is being mismanaged by IOG and his tyrannical wife. Happy now?
What a disgusting comment. Insulting the women of certain clans is nothing more than a sign of pure hatred, quite sad really. I don't know whats between you or warya but all I know is that with all honesty I thought you were a woman too wallahi, firstly because of the name has no indication of gender, secondly a previous reply to me in which you said "from a huuno macan" which somehow made me think that you are a lady. Nevertheless, you have now indicated your gender fair enough. All I'm saying to you is the barks of few dogs does not reach the clouds
I honestly thought i was chatting with a sister, but you aren't. Honest mistake! However, this point is 0.000001% of our discussion and we disagree on everything else. So I wish you all the best! That is all I can say.
u need mantel hospilty peaple hate somaliland one day somaliland wil be free for like sick peaple long live somaliland insha ala
