DESPITE the jubilant mood of the Somaliland delegation in London and the congratulatory message from Hon. William Hague, UK foreign and commonwealth secretary, the Chevening house achievements of the Somaliland-Somalia dialogue were much below the expectations of most ordinary Somalilanders.
Subsequent to that dialogue, Somaliland citizens were waiting to minimally witness the sovereignty of Somaliland unambiguously put into the agenda of the forthcoming talks with Somalia. To the dismay of Somalilanders, the outcome of the dialogue was limited to few points of concurrence and there was no mention of specific agenda points for future discussions. Additionally, the Somalia people misunderstood Somaliland’s acceptance of the Somaliland-Somalia dialogue and wrongfully misinterpreted it as a softening of the Somaliland government’s stance on its sovereignty issue.
For instance, Mr. Abdiweli Gaas, the TFG Prime Minister spared no time to distort Somaliland’s position in the Chevening dialogue to his malicious desires and said: “We are happy to see Somaliland realizing that Somali unity is the only way foreword”. The TFG prime minister and his colleagues in his tribal Majeertenia enclave need to learn to set their priorities right. They need to work hard for the peace and unity of their own war-torn and politically fragmented Somalia and must not boorishly interferes with the policies and aspirations of the peaceful and democratic neighbouring Republic of Somaliland.
According to a recent World Bank report, Mr. Abdiweli Gaas and his cohorts have misappropriated hundreds of millions from Somalia’s treasury. This money was theoretically destined to feed millions of starving people in Somalia, but instead those millions of dollars went straight to the TFG’s multiple deep pockets. Hence, Mr. Gaas believes that he is legally unstoppable and can walk off with everything including the Sovereignty of the Republic of Somaliland.
Likewise, the director of immigration in the TFG government thinks that Somalia’s dominance over Somaliland is back after the Somaliland-Somalia dialogue in Kent and has issued a warning to the Somaliland government, he foolery threatened to add Somaliland to the international terrorist list, if Somalilanders do not stop traveling on the old Somali passports. This misguided person is ignorant of the fact that that Somaliland was independent of Somalia for more than two decades and Somaliland’s credibility is internationally way above Somalia’s authority.
Furthermore, the TFG government is much closer to be added to the terrorist list than the Republic of Somaliland. It is not a secret that the current President of the TFG and many members of his government were not long ago acknowledged full members of the Al-shabaab piloted terrorist organizations. Not only that, but most people believe the TFG is furtively and closely collaborating with Somalia’s terrorist groups for the purpose of prolonging their rein through terrorism and anarchy.
At the end of the day, Somalilanders hope the upcoming Somaliland-Somalia internationally mediated meetings will yield more substantial fruits and will not finish up being a dialogue on the subject of a previous dialogue. Somaliland citizens will not settle for anything less than reparation payments for the thirty years of Somalia’s criminal occupation of Somaliland, war criminals being brought to international justice and the declaration of a full Somaliland sovereignty. These are precisely what Somaliland citizens expect their president to bring to the negotiation table next time around, when he meets with the international community and Somalia’s president.

This is nonsense and full of garbage what This author wrote.anyone who have full functioning brain will understand were This shanty author coming from.
It is time for Somaliland government to either stop talking to Somali so-called TFG leaders or request these so-called leaders from keep calling Somaliland as part and partial of Somalia.
Unless, they denied the existence of Somaliland people, they are very well aware that Somaliland people will never again be part of the failed state of Somalia. Were these two corrupt leaders in coma or in denial when 97% of Somaliland voted in 2001 for total withdrawal from the failed unity? So why is it,
that both the so-called TFG president and it's so-called prime minister continue calling Somaliland part of Somalia? To me this is an insult to intelligence of their people or the Somaliland officials who seat down with these thugs and negotiate the status of Somaliland in first place.
this author is making all this up, he as no facts or prove to back those clams about the TFG ministers Hes all emotions no facts to back up his claims. this is away to distract people and to use your emotions for his own gain.
If Somaliland is an independent country that is not part of Somalia as the author claims, why then are we are we arguing about Somali passports green or otherwise?
have some respect for Abdiweli Gaas cuz his ur next president of somalia.
The author is an expert of what was/is,,and has profound consistent insight debth of the
political dynamics of Somaliland and Somalia and always an excelsior contributor to the
progress of both countries in the world stage in all his writings. I don't doubt the honesty and
dedication of the helpful writings of Dr. ALI. As usual, this article warns of any possible
shortfalls but generally recommends how progress is achievable.DR Ali is highly applauded
in all his writings as a true Somalilander.
Cheers.
ordinary somalilander expectations were high before the talks and still will remind high regardless of it's outcome. We do have full confidence on our government and nothing can deviate that. In addition, for the moment Somaliland appears to have the upper hand over the situation by letting international legal experts to be involved in the latter talks, so they will witness as the parties respectively brought the facts forward.
That's being said, Somaliland's quest for statehood is gaining popularity worldwide by the minute.
It's only a mater of time before it gets a full UN membership.

You seem to have missed the point. The author is talking about the expectations of the meeting not about Somalilanders optimism in their future. Of course, Somalilanders are very optimistic and will certainly achieve their goals, but the dialogue did not produce the minimum expectations of Somalilanders. The minimum expectations of that meeting are summed up in the last paragraph of this article. I repeat, this was the minimum and the president must go for the maximum. All in all, I fully agree with the author.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?gl=GB&feature=pl… Abdiwali got really nice voice.. watch him celebrate june 26..
I am glad the so called TFG prime minister and is followers are recognizing the Independence of Somaliland from British colony. Where at the time, it was recognized by 34 nations of the world . Today, Somaliland based on that history, has withdrawn from the failed unity with Italian Somaliland.
