Hargeisa, 20 April 2009 (Somalilandpress) — The vice president of Somaliland and a key minister from his administration flew to Djibouti today for talks and medical treatment.
Mr Ahmed Yusef Yasin was accompanied by the minister of culture and travel, Abdirazaq Waberi Roble, and are expected to hold talks with their Djibouti counterparts, while reports close to Mr Yasin, told Somalilandpress, he will undergo medical checkup in Djibouti.
Their discussion will focus on bilateral issues and ways to further strengthen their current relationship as well as reaching out to other neighbouring states.
Ahmed Yusef Yasin, told reporters in Hargeisa before flying to Djibouti that “Djibouti was a brotherly country” and one that they “share bilaterial strategic and cooperative partnership in many areas”. Vice President Yasin said it is only right for two countries that are neighbours to seek close ties.
It is the first time for the vice president, Ahmed Yusef Yasin to take this type of trip to Djibouti. It is showing that Somaliland-Djibouti relationship has gone far beyond a bilateral level and is of regional significance.
Mr Yasin is schedule to travel back to Somaliland after few days.
